How to Heal Your Body

Our body is the primary vessel that we use to maneuver throughout this world. We are constantly pushing its limits and expecting it to perform at high levels without giving it the proper care and attention that it needs. Often, we do not realize how interconnected our physical wellness is to our overall wellness. We neglect to see how the state of our body can influence our mood, energy levels, ability to focus, and so much more. When we are physically well, we can show up in the world as our best selves.

Healing and wellness are not simply the absence of illness but a state of complete physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

To achieve physical healing, it is important to focus on three key dimensions of health:

1.   What We Consume

The foods we eat are of the utmost importance as they provide our bodies with the nutrients needed to function optimally. Our food ignites the power within to nurture and protect us. Nutrients promote the body's defense from harmful effects and abnormalities that constantly attack us.

Eating a balanced diet, rich in whole foods helps to support the body’s natural ability to heal, reduce inflammation, improve gut health, and maximize nutrient absorption.   It is best to consume foods in their most raw state, which allows unaltered consumption and easier digestion for the body.  Eat organic foods as much as possible and avoid processed foods at all costs.

It is also essential to intake plenty of spring or distilled water regularly. At a minimum, we should be consuming 1/2 of our body weight in water each day.  For example, a person who weighs 180 pounds would need to drink at least 90 ounces of water each day. Ideally, we would strive for consuming 1 gallon of water per day regardless of our weight. Because all food is converted to liquid before digestion, water and food are similarly recognized by the body.  So, drinking and eating are the same to the body except that a beverage is digested or broken down more than food.

Cleanse and detox the body regularly. This allows the body to rest, repair, and heal by giving the digestive system a much-needed break. Also don't be afraid of consuming herbs as they are nature's medicine. I recommend New Body Herbal Supplements for high quality formulas that support a variety of health needs.

2.   What’s In The World Around Us

Our environment also plays a big role in our physical well-being.  This applies to both the environment that we create and surround ourselves with as well as the larger world around us.  The result of things in and not within our direct control.

We are constantly bombarded by harmful toxins and chemicals in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.  These toxins can come from a variety of sources such as car exhaust, cleaning supplies, beauty products, and even scented candles. Heavy metals like aluminum, mercury, and lead can also be found in many of these products and our atmosphere.  Radiation from cell phones and other electronic devices has also been shown to be harmful.  These toxins can accumulate in our bodies over time, leading to a variety of health problems which may include cancer, autoimmune diseases, reproductive issues, hormonal disruptions, and neurological problems.

Toxicity may also stem from people and places that we associate with.  It's always important to minimize your risk of impact. You don't have to put up with anything that doesn't feel good to you or that isn't in alignment with your highest self.

Reducing exposure to environmental toxins is essential for physical healing.  Always use natural and non-toxic products when possible, like W.A.R. 5's Shea Emollients and Body Butters. Filter your water and avoid drinking from plastic bottles.  Use essential oils to purify and cleanse your space, such as our products made with lemongrass and eucalyptus. Avoid exposure to electromagnetic fields as much as possible by unplugging electronic devices when not in use and using a speakerphone or headset when on the phone. Avoid falling asleep with your television on and set a timer if necessary. Invest in stones and crystals to help protect you from radiation, such as shungite, black tourmaline and pyrite. They can be carried or worn as jewelry.

3.   How We Move

Movement is key for physical healing.  We are meant to move...it is our nature.  A sedentary environment IS a breeding ground for toxicity which leads to the creation of disease.  Movement allows us to maintain a healthy range of motion, strengthens our muscles and bones, and helps to circulate blood throughout our body which allows oxygen and nutrients to reach our cells. When we move our bodies, we are also promoting the drainage of lymph fluid, which helps to remove toxins and waste products from our cells.  Movement ignites our lymph system which keeps us balanced and generates our healing forces. Movement of our majestical bodies is imperative.

There are a variety of ways we can move our bodies, and it is important to find an activity that we enjoy so that we are more likely to stick with it. Focus on activities and movements that you like and build a fitness regimen around that. Enjoy movin' and groovin' :-) the body whether it is dance, hiking, walking, running, cycling, a particular sport, etc. Join a local gym or work with me for fitness training sessions. The key to an empowered body is largely affected by our movements.

Movement also helps to reduce stress levels, improve brain function, and boost energy levels!

The ability to move should be honored. We have the power to control everything that affects our bodies. This needs to be treasured and structured by us.  It all connects...our Spiritual...Mental...Emotional...Physical...Heart...and Soul.
